Piñata Cake: The Perfect Surprise for Any Occasion

Here at Damask, we LOVE birthdays. We really love all celebrations that include cake. But birthdays are not only a symbol of growth and fond memories but also a reminder of why we started Damask in the first place. Making a cake from scratch- whether it’s for a birthday, Father’s Day, A Welcome Home party, or just a Tuesday- is one of the most thoughtful and rewarding ways to celebrate someone. And what better way than with a cake that explodes with fun, color, and candy! This Piñata Cake is easy, tasty, and sure to make you smile. No bat or blindfold required. Our Piñata Cake takes a regular cake and adds a surprise stash of candy in the middle. Your guests will love the surprise.

Piñata Cake Instructions

Prepare your cake of choice as written in the recipe. As the cake cools, prepare the Confetti Frosting. Once the cake has cooled, cut a 5-inch hole out of the center of cake layer 1 and set the removed cake aside for later. Score a 5-inch circle in the center of cake layer 2 and then carefully scoop out the middle without going through to the bottom. Spread a thin layer of frosting around the edge of that scooped-out cake layer (not the hole) and then place cake layer 1 on top. Pour the sprinkles or candy into the center of the cake. Using the reserved 5-inch circle of cake, slice the piece across as thinly as you can and then place it over the hole of sprinkles. Frost the top and sides of the cake and then decorate with any remaining sprinkles or candy. And don’t forget the candles!
