Earth Day Cake Instructions
You will need:
- Damask Chocolate Cake Kit
- Damask Milk Chocolate Frosting Kit (or Dark Chocolate Frosting Kit)
- 1 Bag (10.5 oz) marshmallows
- 1 cup of any fruit snack you prefer (we use Ocean SprayⓇ Cranberries!)
- 3 tablespoons of butter
- 6 cups of popcorn popped
- 1 sachet ColorKitchenⓇ green food coloring
- 10 pretzel rods
To Make the Trees:
- Melt the marshmallows and butter over very low heat, occasionally stirring, about 5 minutes.
- Remove the marshmallow mixture from the heat, add one drop of green food coloring, and stir. (You don't need to stir all the way - this adds to the textured look of the finished popcorn balls!) Add to popcorn.
- Mix in the fruit snacks
- With lightly oiled hands, shape the mixture into 10 popcorn balls, insert a pretzel rod into each, and set aside.
To Decorate the Cake:
Follow the easy-to-read instructions for the Damask Chocolate Cake and Chocolate Frosting. Once the cake has cooled and the frosting has been applied, insert popcorn trees into the cake and serve!

Tip 3
Popcorn balls are a sticky job, but someone’s got to do it. Ensure all your supplies(wax paper, oil, lots of paper towels) are at hand, and work with oiled hands. Once you’ve formed the popcorn balls, insert a pretzel rod and set aside. Voilà, your forest is ready for planting!
